Support#

Different types of questions or discussions correspond to different avenues of communication. Please check the descriptions below to ensure you choose the right method.

If you need help troubleshooting your system, first search existing discussions to see if others have encountered a similar issue and whether a solution already exists.

If not, feel free to ask a new question using one of the support options below. Please avoid contacting developers or maintainers directly, as public support channels allow the whole community to participate and benefit from shared solutions.

Getting help#

Robotics Stack Exchange#

For general usage questions and troubleshooting help, please ask on Robotics Stack Exchange.

Make sure to tag your question with gazebo (and any other relevant tags) so it can be easily found by the community.

When asking a question, please include enough information for others to understand the problem, such as:

  • Your operating system

  • Gazebo version

  • What you were trying to do

  • What happened instead, including any warnings or error messages

Providing clear and complete details makes it much easier for others to help you find a solution.

Gazebo Discourse#

To start a discussion with other Gazebo community members, visit the Gazebo category on Open Robotics Discourse: Gazebo Discourse

Discourse is intended for higher-level discussions, such as best practices, design considerations, or general questions about using Gazebo, rather than debugging specific errors.

Zulip chat#

For real-time communication with Gazebo developers and users, you can join the Open Robotics Zulip workspace: Open Robotics Zulip server

Zulip is well suited for quick questions, development discussion, and collaboration. Please note that responses may vary depending on time zones and availability.

Pull requests#

If you would like to contribute a fix or improvement directly, you are welcome to open a pull request against the appropriate Gazebo repository.

Please make sure to:

  • Follow the pull request template

  • Target the correct branch for your change

Guidance on branch selection, contribution workflow, and general contribution etiquette is described in the contributing guide: Contributing to Gazebo

Reporting bugs and requesting features#

If you identify a bug, have a suggestion for improvement, or would like to request a new feature, please open an issue in the appropriate repository on GitHub: Gazebo Sim

Before opening a new issue, please:

  • Search existing issues to see if the problem has already been reported

  • Use the provided issue template and fill out all relevant sections

Using the issue templates and providing complete information helps maintainers and contributors understand and address issues more efficiently.
